Santander is offering its existing current account or mortgage customers the chance to apply for their Zero Credit Card, with no interest on balance transfers .
Among the benefits of the card are zero per cent interest on purchases within three months and no fees for foreign exchange or cash withdrawals. The offer also applies to Alliance and Leicester customers.
Emma Roberts, director of Santander Cards, said that the offer is unique within the credit card market.
She added: "We are committed to rewarding our customers and this offer is the latest in a series of initiatives that will enable customers to benefit from being part of one of the world's most successful and efficient banks ."
Anyone else applying for the card will be subject to a three per cent balance transfer fee.
A report by gocompare.com recently found that only 11 per cent of people surveyed had switched credit cards in the last 12 months, missing out on the opportunity to reduce interest on their accounts.
