Those looking to earn a bit of cashback for using their credit card have been advised to make sure they have looked at the terms and conditions of a product first.
Moneyfacts said that with the introduction of Barclaycard's Cashback Mastercard, the market for credit cards with benefits is picking up, but consumers should not be led in by attractive headline offers.
Customers need to manage the credit cards well, as most cashback offers have strict repayment requirements, meaning if the bill is not fully paid off each month then benefits may disappear.
Louise Holmes, spokesperson for Moneyfacts, added: "If managed efficiently, customers can enjoy a host of benefits from their card including cash back, vouchers, air miles and interest rebates ."
American Express recently announced that Platinum cashback credit card holders will have to pay annual fees of £20 for any accounts which are not used for over 12 months.
