The Personal Finance Awards 2009 has seen credit card company Santander walk away with a prize for its plastic products.
Winning the Best Cards Provider award for the second consecutive year, the firm beat competition from Capital One, Halifax Lloyds TSB and Virgin thanks to its "highly creative marketing strategies".
Roger Lovering, managing director of Santander Cards, said: "Since bringing our cards offering back in house, we have strived to fulfil our promise of innovation and commitment to our customers' needs, aiming at all times to offer added value through our products."
He cited the Santander Zero and Santander Credit Card as reasons for the company's success, which was based on criteria such as long-term value, commitment to product development and understanding consumers' needs.
Consumers planning to put the cost of Christmas on a credit card should apply now before rates are hiked in the run up to the festive period, Moneynet.co.uk recently warned.
