Consumers have been warned that credit card bills which do not show up in the post may be down to identity theft rather than the recent Royal Mail strikes.
Although the union action has now been called off, CreditExpert has said that those who are still not receiving their bills may be the victims of fraud .
Criminals can take personal information from confidential post such as credit card bills and any expected statements which have not been delete received could have been diverted to a new address, the financial advice group claimed.
Darryl Bowman from CreditExpert said that "it's tempting to assume missing post is down to a backlog", but encouraged credit card customers to "investigate and report any missing items quickly".
Financial Fraud Action UK recently reported that credit card customers are still being duped by a well-worn scam which encourages people to give their confidential account details over the phone.
