Parents need to take better care of their credit cards, new research suggests.
A study by anti-fraud body CPP found that one in ten boys have made a purchase on mum or dad's credit card without permission.
Michael Lynch, fraud expert at the firm, explained that parents should explain to their kids why they should not use their credit card without asking.
However, they should also take other steps to prevent unauthorised credit card use .
"They should make sure they are not using their usernames and passwords, and are not using saved credit card details," he said.
People should also check their credit card bills on a regular basis to make sure there is no suspicious activity, Mr Lynch added.
A study by CCP conducted in October of last year found that 77 per cent of children use the internet without permission.
It also revealed that 89 per cent of adults do not allow their kids to make online purchases with their credit cards.
