Anyone with a Nationwide credit card can take advantage of an extra level of insurance on their purchases, the firm has claimed.
Robin Bailey, Nationwide's divisional director, explained that the building society is offering consumers an extended warranty on a range of electrical goods they purchase on their credit card .
He said: "Any Nationwide credit cardholder who uses their credit card to purchase an electrical item for use within their home can receive a year's extended warranty cover free of charge - simply by registering it."
Mr Bailey added that the company has recently extended the range of goods covered to include iPods and other media players as well as home cinema systems .
In related news, moneysupermarket.com this week said Nationwide's Comic Relief credit card is among the best of a bad bunch in terms of charity credit cards .
The firm said there are better ways for people to donate money using a credit card and suggested people could give away some of the money they save when switching to a zero per cent deal.
