Charity credit cards are not as generous as they could be, it has been claimed.
Steve Willey, head of credit cards at moneysupermarket.com, explained that anyone who spent £500 per month on a Nationwide Comic Relief credit card will have only raised £36 for the charity by the end of the year - and the Comic Relief card is "relatively generous" compared to other cards, he said.
Mr Willey added that those looking to give money to charity through their credit card might want to think about other ways of doing it.
He said: "If the majority of activity on your credit card is through purchases, then your most charitable option is to get a card with the longest zero per cent offer on purchases and give some of your savings to the charity of your choice."
In related news David Kuo of Fool.co.uk claimed that the credit card market remained strong with plenty of deals still available for consumers.
