Credit card customers can help reduce their bills by switching to a new deal, according to one expert.
Michelle Slade, analyst at Moneyfacts.co.uk, explained that most people will have been hit by a rate rise from their credit card provider .
For this reason, people should shop around to see if they can get a better deal, she stated.
"If you now find yourself with a debt on your card and you want to cut down your monthly repayments, the best option is a balance transfer," Miss Slade said.
People should be able to find a zero per cent credit card deal or, if they are planning to pay the sum they owe offer over a longer period, a life-of-balance deal, she added.
Last month, Fool.co.uk reported that there are more than 90 zero per cent balance transfer deals currently on offer to credit card customers.
A total of seven credit cards did not charge interest for a total of 14 months, the finance website found.
