American Express has announced the launch of a new cashback deal on one of its credit card products.
The firm will be providing cashback to the tune of five per cent of spend for the first three months of the card, which it claims makes the credit card the market leading option in a congested field.
After the first three months of the credit card, cashback will still be provided, but at a reduced rate than initially set.
This ranges from 0.5 per cent for spending under £3,500, to 1.5 per cent if more than £10,000 is splashed out using the credit card.
Tom Allder, vice president of UK lending at American Express, said: "We've been offering cashback for coming up to ten years and January 2008 sees the 5th anniversary of the launch of Platinum Credit Card ."
He added that the company will continue to be committed to offering a good service to its customers, with the new credit card reaffirming its position at the top of the market.
Other credit card offers available from the firm include a zero per cent APR offer for 15 months.
