Thousands of people could be in the mood to tackle their credit card debt this year, after a new study showed that financing tops the list of the nation's worries.
According to research from financial services provider Abbey, 24 per cent of the UK population admit that they perceive financing problems as the main threat to their quality of life.
To put this into perspective, 11 per cent said that crime was their most pressing worry, while nine per cent listed terrorism.
Meanwhile, four per cent admitted that damage to the environment was top of their list of concerns.
Sue Hays of the financial services provider commented on the findings.
"People are generally positive about their quality of life in 2007," she said.
"The real concern for people is money and we are hoping that this is a signal that people are planning to get more engaged with their finances in 2007."
Sorting out credit card deficits is one way of tackling financing issues.
By moving debts to a 0% credit card, the cardholder can avoid having to pay high levels of interest during the introductory period of the new deal.
