More than a third of mobile phone users have no idea what tariff they are currently using, in news that may be of interest to credit card providers.
In a new survey from financing website SimplySwitch, 36 per cent of respondents admitted they did not know what type of talk plan they were currently on - potentially meaning they may need to turn to their credit cards to pay unexpectedly high phone bills.
Meanwhile, 29 per cent confessed that they never check their phone bills, which might lead them into financing difficulties in the future if they are overcharged.
However, some 17 per cent of people who regularly reviewed their phone statements pointed out that they had to notify the phone company of corrections on either an occasional or frequent basis.
"Mobile phone bills now make up a sizeable portion of most people's monthly outgoings, so it seems like common sense to find out how much you're paying and what's included in your call plan," commented Karen Darby from SimplySwitch.
Additionally, mobile phone users who wish to reduce their expenditure may wish to consider switching service providers.
Often, customers who do this can take advantage of a tariff more suited to their financing needs, as well as possibly receiving extra incentives such as a free phone upgrade.
