Credit card customers may be interested to hear that Barclaycard has pledged to donate a minimum of £1 million towards environmental projects as it launches a new eco-friendly credit card.
Barclaycard has vowed to give 50 per cent of profits from its all-new Breathe credit card to organisations working to reduce carbon emissions across the globe - and the financial services company has now confirmed that a seven-figure sum will be donated in the first year.
Meanwhile, credit card users who are concerned about climate change may be relieved to hear about a host of other green facilities that accompany Breathe.
In addition to recycling credit card plastics, the financial services provider has also announced that financing statements will be sent online to reduce paper wastage.
"Barclaycard Breathe makes it easy for people to do their bit in the fight against climate change by offering incentives to make being green easier and supporting projects around the world that help reduce carbon emissions," commented Antony Jenkins, chief executive at the credit card company.
Barclaycard was the first ever credit card introduced into the UK after banking institution Barclays decided to mimic a financing technique already popular in the US.
