American Express best for cashback credit card, company claims

Credit card provider American Express has claimed that it offers the best cashback deal on its cards.

The company states that the cashback rate on its Platinum Credit Card is "market-leading", for new applicants.

Offering new customers three per cent cashback for the first three months, the American Express Platinum Credit Card may be useful option for frequent spenders.

After the three-month period has ended, the credit card continues to offer cashback to its customers.

For aggregate amounts up to £3,500, the credit card provides cashback of 0.5 per cent, with one per cent on offer for balances up to £10,000.

Above this amount, the credit card offers cashback of 1.5 per cent.

Tom Allder, director of lending at American Express, said: "American Express first launched a cashback credit card in 1998 and eight years on, remains committed to rewarding Cardmembers for their spending and offering highly competitive rewards to attract new customers."

American Express provides a range of credit cards, including options for personal and business users.
