Moneyextra has offered a number of tips to make the most out of credit cards during the festive season.
A number of different options are available to consumers - such as 0% credit cards, balance transfer cards and cashback credit cards - and Moneyextra advises how to be savvy with their usage this Christmas.
The company states that balance transfer cards are ideal for post-holiday debts, with capped fees available for those wishing to move larger amounts.
However, Robin Amlot, senior editor of Moneyextra, warns: "Do no, repeat do not, use these cards for spending."
Additionally, the expert asserts that 0% credit cards are available for purchases, which could take the sting out of shopping for presents by allowing users to spread the costs.
"Your credit card is not just for Christmas, but with an average spend jumping 22 per cent to around £378 on presents, it usually gets little rest in the run up to 25th December," remarked Mr Amlot.
American Express recently warned UK residents to ensure that they have adequate home insurance to cover the loss of Christmas gifts.
