Find a card to suit your circumstances
When choosing a credit card you need to consider that your options will be affected by your personal circumstances.
Some companies are extremely choosy about who they will open an account for, and provider a multitude of accounts, where only those with the highest credit scores get the best deals.
To find out more about credit scoring, and how lenders make their decisions, please read our online borrowing guide that covers most of the frequently asked questions.
Capital One has a credit card to suit everyone’s needs; you can even have a low credit score. They can still offer you a credit card with a small credit limit which will increase as you keep your payments up to date.
But beware; we offer many attractive credit card offers on this site but be careful not to apply for too many cards at once as debt can very quickly build up. Lenders are more likely to want to offer you a card with higher rates of interest than to completely refuse you, but every time you apply for a credit card the data is recorded and too many applications will lower your credit score. If you are unsuccessful with an application it is advisable to wait a couple of months before making the next application to another company.
